Emotional debt occurs with every unresolved trauma of the past. Unresolved pain and trauma are stored in the body and cellular memories, much like creating debt on a credit card. These cellular memories may not be remembered, but as the writer of Proverbs says, they lie in wait for your blood! In other words, when opportunities for happiness, health, love, or success are present, they emerge and cause us to react in some unreasonable manner. All of these lost opportunities are emotional interest like a revolving credit card. Because of the new pain they create, you can never suffer enough to pay them off!

Unresolved pain of the past is a form of PTSD. You may not remember it, but until resolved, it shows up to destroy your life until you completely lose confidence in God and yourself!

The very first issue Jesus addressed when beginning His public ministry was healing the broken heart! Here’s what happens when your heart is healed:

• Painful experiences of the past have no power over you
• You can see yourself as God sees you
• You don’t bring emotional sabotage
• You find the ability to see opportunity instead of pain

Jesus offers us a Year of Jubilee where all past emotional debt is canceled, and, for the first time, we can be free to live the life Jesus promised.
