The best way to understand the condition of our heart is by the fruit it produces in our life. Here are some symptoms of a broken heart: Fractured sense of identity: I get excited but can’t see things through to fulfillment; I repeat a cycle of negative emotions; I feel unqualified, like good things are for everyone else but not me; I struggle to give and receive love; I’m not good at relationships; I struggle with faith. These are just a few, but since the heart is the seat of our being there could be an endless number of symptoms. Maybe the common denominator to all of these is always feeling inadequate or struggling with low self-worth.
Knowing the symptoms is worthless without the cure. There is no amount of counseling or therapy that will heal a broken heart unless it is all aimed at leading us into a deeper, more personal connection with God through the Lord Jesus!
