In a world that has demanded that we be carnal, i.e. natural thinkers, every aspect of how to have a wonderful, peaceful life has been pushed beyond our reach. The problem isn’t that God is withholding it; the problem is we can’t take hold of it the way we’re trying.
God’s Word tells us two critically important things. I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live (Deuteronomy 30:19). Most of what we pray and ask God to do for us are issues where our lack of trust in Him has prevented us from simply making the decision to have what God says is rightfully ours! When God introduces this concept to the children of Israel He explains that making this decision is the same as making the decision to walk in His Word. The legalist thinks that obeying God’s Word is a means of earning His blessings. The liberalist thinks that obeying God is a form of dead works. But God is saying His Word is about how to treat one another, have a just society and manage your life in the wisdom needed to fulfill your decision to walk in His life and blessings.
