In the absence of a deep, personal relationship with God we tend to get our security from our doctrine, i.e. being “right.” When our doctrine is questioned or challenged it threatens our deepest need for spiritual security, causing us to lash out. Being secure in our relationship with God is no different than being secure in the relationship with our spouse. Having a marriage license is not what makes you secure; having a loving, trusting relationship is what does it!
The more intimate we become with God, the more we open our heart to Him, the more we sense, hear and experience His deep love for us, the more secure we feel. JOIN ME this week and let’s explore the difference between a doctrinal arrangement and a personal relationship.
