Spiritual warfare is like so many other things that have been distorted by religion to rob us of our faith. Since Jesus completely defeated the devil and stripped him of all power and authority, and since we were in Him when He won that victory, it is our victory as much as it is His; thus, the Scripture: we are more than conquerors: thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ; this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
If we believe we have to fight the devil then we do not believe Jesus totally conquered him and that we share in that victory. One of the primary reasons we lose the war for our faith is we refuse to look at Jesus and all He accomplished and share in those victories. That is the foundation of the New Covenant: we are in Him and we share in His resurrection life!
Warfare is not fighting with the devil, because he is already a defeated foe. Warfare is the struggle that goes on in our mind concerning our belief in the finished work of Jesus and the degree to which we share in His finished work.
