The heart becomes crooked when there is conflict between what God has written on our heart and what our mind is saying to usProverbs says a person with a crooked heart cannot find good. Why? Truth is light! When light bends it changes colors. When truth enters a crooked heart it is altered in that person’s understanding through their crooked heart. They can’t get hold of the truth in a way that brings them to the good things of God.

The heart becomes crooked when there is conflict between what God has written on our heart and what our mind is saying to us. Remember, the conscience is a co-perception, i.e. a combining of our personal point of view and God’s point of view. If two eyes are not focused the same it distorts the image we seek to see. If two voices are speaking something different at the same time we can’t clearly hear either.

A crooked heart occurs when we violate our conscience. The only way to resolve a crooked heart is to surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and align our thoughts and behavior with His truth: Give up your personal opinions that are not in harmony with God’s Word: repent! See and hear God clearly!

Many times the word “righteous” in the Hebrew language simply means “straight.” A straight heart finds the good things of God. Never allow pride to make you hold to your opinions that contradict Jesus’ interpretation and application of God’s Word, thereby depriving you of the promises of God.
