Quote for Blog - 060916The word “authority” means “the right” to do something. Power is the ability to do something. God gave the human race the authority to rule Planet Earth. Sin corrupted the use of authority and the wicked tended to use it more than the righteous; thus, the world became corrupt. When Jesus was raised from the dead He said, All authority is given to me in heaven and earth. This means He is the only One who has the legal right to exercise authority.

Our authority isn’t independent of Him; it’s because of Him. We don’t rely on personal authority, we only speak into being those things that God’s Word proclaims to be for us. We send away or put off those things from which God’s Word says we’re free. Because the Holy Spirit confirms the Word of God, He provides the power to make it happen.

Besides becoming the Seat of Authority in the earth, Jesus did something that tends to go unnoticed: in Him the authority in both Heaven and Earth became one and the same! This is why “binding and loosing” is so important. Binding is when we declare something to be improper because it has been determined so in Heaven. Loosing is when we declare something to be proper and lawful on Earth because it has already occurred in Heaven. Since we’re in Jesus, we operate His authority which extends to both Heaven and Earth!

Effective, Fervent Prayer happens when you believe what Jesus has already accomplished and bring yourself into coherence with His finished work. It’s easy to be passionate when you know and trust the finished work of Jesus.
