PromiseA heart of faith is able to receive God’s promises, but first we must make sure we understand what it means to “receive.” The word “receive” isn’t passive. It isn’t waiting on God to “throw the blessing to us” so we can catch it! The word “receive” as it is used in the Bible means to “take hold of and bring to one’s self.” The way we take hold of a truth is when we believe it in our heart, i.e. our heart is fully-persuaded.

Our faith is rooted in the New Covenant which is based on the death, burial, resurrection and inheritance of the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, any time we are seeking to operate faith to overcome an issue or believe for an issue, the ultimate question is, “What did Jesus do about this on the cross?” Once we know what was done at the cross we know exactly what God’s will is concerning that particular issue.

If you watch this week’s CyberChurch message, Your First Impulse is Life or Death, during the mentoring moment I will walk you through a few simple steps you can use to take everything to the cross, put off/send away that from which you have been set free, and put on that which you have been freely given in Christ!

By simply stating a biblical promise in first person, present tense and paying attention to how you feel you can identify whether your heart is or is not fully-persuaded. Then by asking yourself a series of the right questions you can lead yourself through a process of removing doubt, putting on faith and receiving the promise.
