Jesus said, “If you love Me you will keep My commandments.” He also said, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command.” Jesus said the words He spoke were the Father’s words, which means He never said anything the Father didn’t say. In fact, Jesus never said anything new, but religion (then and now) is so ignorant of the Scriptures they somehow fail to identify that! Jesus didn’t come to show us a new version of God; He came to show us God’s true nature and character that had always been there. The word “commandment” could be translated “prescription.” The question remains, “a prescription for what?” It is a prescription for walking in love toward one another and toward God!
