Revelation knowledge is the ability to see and understand all scripture from the life, teaching, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus! The division of the Bible as the Old and New Testaments is a concept we created. In actuality, the early church never sanctioned the use of what we call the New Testament. While I accept and am incredibly thankful for the NT and how it gives me the apostle’s insight, I realize that the NT  is not a replacement for the scripture.

The apostles lived and walked with Jesus. From His life and teachings they gained revelation knowledge concerning the OT, i.e. they could see it the way God intended! Neither Jesus, nor the apostles rejected the commandments as the absolute morals, values, and ethics. Instead, they showed us that those who walk in love actually seek to live in the wisdom of the commandments. They came to understand all the scriptures that pointed to Jesus as the Messiah. They interpreted the commandments and their application from Jesus’ life, teaching and the New Covenant! They rejected them as the means of earning righteousness, but not as the standard of righteousness. Through Jesus they gained revelation knowledge.

Revelation knowledge is the ability to see and understand all scripture from the life, teaching, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus! He is the revelation of God. He is the Word and wisdom of God. The Gospels give us the opportunity to look at Jesus’ life and teaching. The Epistles/letters give advice about how to apply the scripture in light of the New Covenant!

All revelation of scripture and its life application come when understood through Jesus!

The commandments, when applied through love, show us how to treat others. They show us how to live a great quality of life! We never use them to judge the behavior of others; we apply them to ourselves as God’s standard for walking in love!
