Religion told us God could not love us when we failed Him but Scripture paints quite a different story. This passage reveals how God feels about, sees and treats us even when we were sinners. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him (Romans 5:8-9).
To demonstrate His unfathomable love God sent Jesus to die for us when all we did was hurt and destroy. The proof of His love is the fact that Jesus paid the price even when there was nothing in our lives that deserved it. If God valued us that much then, we can know He loves us now, even with our faults!
Love/value and acceptance has an inherent transforming power. Those who will allow themselves to believe and thereby begin to experience this love will be transformed by its limitless power. God doesn’t love you to get you to change. But love that accepts you as you are fulfills an incredible paradox and it empowers you to transformation. When all else fails, love never fails, i.e. never ceases to be effective.
