If you are in Christ you are protected from the evil one. The only things you are not protected from are your choices. God never turns you over to the devil, the devil can’t pluck you from His hand and you stand in Christ’s victory over the devil. Jesus taught us to pray, “Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from the evil one.” The words “evil one” are not remotely close to what the original language says. The word “evil” is not a personal noun. Evil refers to chaos, trouble, conflict, entrapment, distress and all things related to emotional or physical pain. The words “lead us” literally mean “to lift the burden.” The way we stay free from temptation is by living in peace, making decisions that lead to peace and seeking peace with all men. When we make decisions that bring chaos and conflict we place ourselves under a burden that leads to temptation. JOIN ME this week and put an end to the chaos that places you into temptation.
Dr. Jim . Thank you for your message: Do I have to pray for God to protect me from the evil one?
Dear Ria, Salvation is in Jesus and that word in the original language means saved, healed, delivered, prospered and set free. Prayer is simply having a conversation with God. Protection from the evil one is inherent in salvation, however we experience that protection by faith. You do not have to ask God to protect you from the evil one, but just thank Him for the protection you have in Christ Jesus. And if you are experiencing fear then just talk to God about it, reminding yourself that you are already protected in Christ Jesus and that Jesus totally defeated the evil one.
