Many believe giving to God or to people is the idea that it will cause them to love us or will draw them closer to us. The theological fallacy of the Old Testament offerings is that they caused God to love man and draw near to Him. Actually, just the opposite is true. The offerings didn’t draw God closer to man, they drew man closer to God. The deception about giving to God or anyone is that they will love you more or bond with you. That doesn’t necessarily happen but it does draw you to them! Giving influences the heart of the giver. When we believe God is already near, our giving and serving draw us to Him and strengthens our relational bond in our heart. JOIN ME this week and let’s explore how giving can work for you or against you in your relationship with God and others.
The Great Deception About Giving

Jim, I am listening to Power to Get Wealth again, and reading The Wealth of the Wicked, Yours for the Taking and I have to tell you my view on giving and tithing has been revolutionized. I have a new understanding, a sense of joy and newness and I actually LOVE to give now. I have been given a wonderful opportunity to learn to be faithful in little so I can learn HOW to be faithful over little and when “much” comes, I will be firmly rooted and established in the habits of that faithfulness so that “much” will not destroy me. I am witness to His faithfulness to provide seed to the sower. Your explanation on Deuteronomy 26 is so insightful and just blew that portion open for me and it took the fear and legalism right out of it! I am grateful to our Father that you have chosen to fulfill the call that He has placed on your life towards us. I can’t say thank you enough.
